India baseline: CPCB reports 170,339 tonnes/day generated, 156,449 collected, 91,511 treated and 41,455 landfilled in 2021–22. Annualised, that is 62.17M tonnes generated and 33.40M tonnes treated.

Scenario method: The 62.17M-tonne generation baseline is multiplied by England's 3.4% furniture and furnishings share and WRAP's 3.8004% separately classified wood share. Carbon applies the UK furniture consumption intensity of 8.7 MtCO₂e per 861,000 tonnes. These are directional India estimates, not measured national furniture data.
